Gesha Waterfall – Story

In the mountains of Quindío, on the western slope of Colombia’s central mountain range, Gesha Waterfall is born—a coffee that represents patience, resilience, and rediscovery.

This lot comes from a Gesha variety crop that was planted approximately four years ago using seeds brought from Panama, the origin of some of the most expressive and complex coffees in the world. However, its story has not been linear.

For two years, the farm was left abandoned. Without intervention, vegetation grew freely, the soil followed its natural course, and the plants endured challenging conditions on their own. Rather than weakening the crop, this period shaped its character—deeper roots, stronger adaptation to the environment, and a more natural interaction with the ecosystem.

A year ago, we began working alongside the producer with a clear purpose: to recover the potential of this Gesha while preserving the unique qualities it developed during its time in the wild.

The rehabilitation process has been carried out with care and intention, respecting the plant’s natural cycles and prioritizing sustainable practices. Harvesting is done by hand, selecting only cherries at their optimal stage of ripeness. From there, the coffee undergoes a carefully controlled process designed to highlight the distinct identity of the lot.

The name “Waterfall” is inspired by its environment—nearby water sources, constant humidity, and the fluid expression of the cup profile. Like a waterfall, this coffee unfolds in layers: it begins delicate, develops into complexity, and finishes with clarity and persistence.

Today, Gesha Waterfall is more than just a coffee; it is the result of renewal. A project that proves that even neglected crops can be transformed into extraordinary experiences through knowledge, respect for the land, and a clear vision.
